Topaz InFocus is a plug-in for digital image enhancement. It is designed for Adobe Photoshop 7 - CS5 (32 and 64-bit), but it also works with Adobe Photoshop Elements 1-9, Paint Shop Pro, Painter X/11, PhotoImpact, and Irfanview. It can be used for image sharpening, overall image enhancement, and blur removal from images in various formats. Sharpening increases the image details, giving it a fresh, crisp look. As a process, it boosts the objects edge contrast, making them more visible. Blur removal is very helpful for out-of-focus images, recovering soft details not visible at first glance.
After installation, Topaz InFocus can be accessed from Adobe Photoshop's Filers menu. It has its own interface, which might look a bit complicated at the beginning, but will prove to be well designed after some use.
Deblur and Sharpen options are highly customizable, each of them having specific features. For de-blurring a picture, for example, you start by selecting one of the custom blur types offered by default by the program. If you are not sure which type it is, there is also an option for Blur estimation. Then you can calibrate the blur radius and the edges softness. Suppress artifacts option will ensure that any type of undesirable elements created in the image due to the digital optimization will disappear.
A very useful and detailed tutorial is provided with the program, for both experienced and beginner users. Topaz InFocus is an excellent solution for editing and recovering out-of-focus or blurred pictures.
